Role Highlights:
Lead and supervise the morning news and production team. Manage a team of direct and indirect reports to include writers, producers, editors, anchors, reporters, assignment editors and planners, and digital staff.
Oversee product, content, assignments, performance, and daily affairs of the team.
Manage teams to develop and assemble content on multiple platforms.
Produce timely and compelling newscasts that are editorially and visually dynamic, including content in the field, breaking news, and news specials.
Responsible for recruitment and retention, to include identifying changing job requirements, collaborating with news management and HR on recruitment strategies, conducting interviews, assessing candidates, successfully onboarding new team members, coaching, training & development, accountability, identifying upskill opportunities, managing the daily affairs of the team, and cultivating a productive and supported work environment.
Work closely with news management to continually evolve our newscasts.
Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a senior producer or executive producer in a medium to large television market. Minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team of direct reports.
Skills: Exceptional news and editorial judgment. Flawless writing and copy-editing skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with high professionalism. Creativity and innovation.
Content: Must have strong knowledge of social media and be able to incorporate and showcase content from multiple platforms into newscasts.
Technical: Broad understanding of newsroom operations and equipment. Social media enthusiast.
Leadership: Proven and effective leadership skills; foster open dialogue, empowers others, addresses conflict quickly and directly.
