Library Technician
To perform a wide variety of tasks under general supervision of the Technology Coordinator, including technical and instructional tasks at the Educational Services Center and at school sites. Provides primary support to site library clerks in all library functions including processing, troubleshooting, circulation, billing, and running reports.
Directly responsible to Technology Coordinator.
Gives phone and on-site support for software and hardware problems related to the library system.
Assists in training library clerks and student aides.
Supervises student aides.
Conducts meetings with library clerical support staff and other meetings as assigned.
Has responsibility for maintaining the MARC record database including creating, modifying, and deleting MARC records.
Maintains patron and media circulation records on the library system including all reports necessary to maintain control.
Maintains ESC Media Retrieval System recording and programming schedule including loading and reshelving scheduled media.
Programs satellite receivers for recording and broadcast purposes for all sites.
Provides phone support to sites for Synergy database problems.
Maintains hardware and software inventory for the ESC.
Monitors the printing of student ID bar codes and maintains bar code printer.
Maintains central control for ordering of all magazine subscriptions for all school sites including troubleshooting problems.
Performs inventory for all elementary schools sites.
Sets up inventory for middle and high schools, troubleshoots if necessary.
Assists in monitoring all library media center budgets and requisitions.
Takes minutes at monthly media specialists meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Technology Coordinator.

Ability to work without direct supervision.
Two (2) years of Library Clerk II or comparable experience in a school library system.
