Job Description

Emergency Department volume: ~60,000 patients annually

Admission rate: 24–28%

APPs work in the main ED (no fast track currently)

Dedicated physician oversight available for questions or escalations

Scribes available for physicians only

Must be comfortable working in a high-volume, high-acuity ED environment

Must be willing to work both day and night shifts

Job Responsibilities: Independently manage a broad range of emergency presentations
Perform laceration repair and incision & drainage (I&D)
Intubation, chest tube placement, and central line insertion only under direct MD supervision (optional)
Comfortable treating critically ill patients
Minimum 2 years of emergency medicine experience in a high-acuity setting required
Qualifications: Active KY License & DEA – Required
Board Certified Physician Assistant – Required
Clean malpractice and background history – Required
ACLS, BLS, and ATLS certifications – Required
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience – Required
Working Hours: Shifts: 12-hour shifts (Days & Nights) – APPs provide 24/7 coverage
48 hours/day physician coverage
36 hours/day APP coverage
Intensivist and Hospitalist support available.
No neurosurgery on-site; neuro subspecialty coverage available.
Skills: Robust specialty backup including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Cardiothoracic Surgery, ENT, OB/GYN, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Psychiatry, Dermatology, and more.
