A leading manufacturer in the advanced materials and specialty chemical industry is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to oversee daily operations at its Baltimore facility. This role is responsible for directing and supporting production staff to meet safety, quality, and output goals while ensuring compliance with labor agreements and company policies. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, operational knowledge, and continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day production operations to meet customer demands and delivery schedules
Manage workforce and production resources to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime
Coordinate maintenance and shift coverage in response to absenteeism or equipment breakdowns
Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials, packaging, WIP, and finished goods
Monitor key performance metrics and lead initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency
Enforce safety, quality, and compliance standards in accordance with OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations
Partner with other departments to ensure smooth plant operations and cross-functional alignment
Resolve labor-related issues in accordance with company policies and union agreements
Adapt to flexible work shifts as needed
Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Superintendent or Plant Manager
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a production or industrial setting
OR a college degree with at least 2–3 years of experience in production supervision
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, solve problems, and adapt quickly in a manufacturing environment
Familiarity with inventory systems, ERP platforms, and quality control protocols
Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA standards and industrial safety practices
Proficiency in written and verbal English (additional languages a plus)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a unionized production environment
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
Proven ability to develop SOPs, manage maintenance plans, and oversee operational budgets
Strong interpersonal and team-building skills
